When Nyx Shine Loud went viral, I had to review it. I was about 11 when I started collecting lipsticks. They were about £2 – £3 on eBay and were usually discontinued lipsticks that frankly nobody wanted. That’s where my love of lip colour really started. I’d opt for berry shades and bright red shades. Lipstick wasn’t really trendy in the early-2000s. That was a simpler time; the time of clear lipglosses that tasted like chemically manufactured cherry or lipglosses with chunky glitter or if you were really hardcore, using foundation on your lips. But, there was me in my off-trend, bold lipsticks.
My affinity with lip colour never really ended. Sure since having my children, I wear makeup much less, but I’m always wanting the newest lip colours. Thanks to TikTok, I’m usually quite up to speed with the latest, most sought after high-street make-up. So whispers started that there was a new liquid lipstick that had some serious staying power; I had to try it. Who doesn’t need mask-proof lipstick in this day and age?
As with any viral make-up product, once the makeup gurus tell us it’s amazing it sells out within a few hours. I can’t tell you how long I was refreshing the Beauty Bay website in hopes they’d come back into stock. I eventually got my hands on shade Cash Flow.
Nyx Shine Loud Review – Is Nyx shine loud good?
Price
At £11, they’re a pretty standard price for a high street lipstick. However, I bought mine when it was on offer for only £9 which is frankly a bargain!
Packaging
The packaging is pretty much standard! I can’t say there’s anything special about it!
Colour
I’ll be completely honest, the shade I chose definitely isn’t my normal shade choice. Looking at pictures online, I thought it would be a tad darker. Cash flow is a pretty colour nonetheless.
Application
The first time I tried it, I applied it then applied a second coat for a bolder look. This was a mistake. It went flakey and it looked like I’d tried to badly disguise chapped lips. Needless to say, I scrubbed it off – but it took quite a fight to get it off!
When I tried it a second time, I took more time to perfect the application the first time around. Once dried, my lips did feel very tight and dry. However, applying the gloss layer perfectly remedied it, and my lips felt amazing!
Wear
I’ve never truly got along with liquid lipsticks, especially the ones that proclaim to be ‘long lasting’. However, I can attest that Nyx Shine Loud doesn’t just proclaim to be long-lasting, it really is long-lasting.
It really is kiss-proof, food proof, mask proof and drink proof. It started to show signs of wear around 5 hours after application.
Overall verdict
It’s a really good high street, budget lipstick! It does everything it claims to do. I would just say it’s not the sort of lipstick you can just swipe on another coat of when it starts to wear away. Once it starts showing signs of wear, it’s time to take it all off completely and start over again.
You can buy your Nyx Shine Loud from Beauty Bay.
